CALLED CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Mayor called to order at 5:35pm and requested that CM Smith lead us in prayer.  All said the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor stated the meeting has been called to have a vote on a Contract that we all agreed to adhere to with the Citizens Bank of Swainsboro. We are asking to put up all city vehicles as collateral on the loan for the new well.  Mayor asked if there is any discussion let us talk about it now.

After much discussion the vote was: CM Smith made the motion to use Citizens Bank of Swainsboro with the bank using the vehicles as collateral only for the money to pay off Grosch Well Drilling Company. CM Sumner seconded the motion with CM Mimbs in agreement with the motion unanimous.

Mayor brought up the subject of Frank and Johnny taking a class to be able to get the help from the prisoners in Soperton, Ga. Requested discussion on the subject.  After much discussion the vote was: CM Smith made the motion that Frank and Johnny were to take the class to help get a prisoner to help them during the months that they need help. CM Sumner seconded the motion with CM Mimbs in agreement unanimous.

Mayor brought attention to voting on whether or not to put an ad in the news paper for a City Attorney. CM Smith made the motion that we run the ad in the papers for City Attorney, in Dublin, Swainsboro and Vidalia Ga newspaper. CM Sumner seconded the motion with CM Mimbs in agreement unanimous.

Discussion was made about going to the GIRMA classes held in August at Statesboro to receive our credit for the safety grant. Mayor stated that she would like to go and the Clerk will be going if approved. CM Smith made a motion that everyone that can go to the GIRMA classes that are offered in Statesboro should go. CM Sumner seconded the motion with CM Mimbs in agreement unanimous

Clerk reminded everyone about the short term work program list of jobs that need to be done around town which needs to be submitted to her so that she can submit it for the program.

CM Smith stated that there was not a vote stating that Loriann will be working on Wednesday. So, CM Smith made the motion that Loriann will start keeping the office open on Wednesday from now on between the hours of 8:30 to 5:00. CM Sumner and CM Mimbs seconded the motion so everyone is agreement.

Chief Chavis brought to everyone’s attention that he needs to have his reservations for the Chief’s conference done before the next Council Meeting and he is asking permission to get that taking care of.

CM Smith offered a motion that Chief Chavis go ahead and make his reservations and everything that he needs to do for him to go to the Chief Conference in Savannah this year. CM Mimbs seconded the motion with CM Sumner in agreement unanimous

Mayor adjourned the meeting at 6:10pm
